What's with the tennis shoes hanging from the Powerlines?

They are all over here in Sacramento. Do you have that "fad" where you live?

What's with the tennis shoes hanging from the Powerlines?
In my old neighborhood in L.A. that was done to let people know there were drugs sold near by. But it was a fad also picked up by teenagers- they did that just to see if they could actually get the shoes up there.
Reply:It's normally a sign for a drug house or gang turf.
Reply:In my area it's always meant there's a drug dealer at the location ready to do business.
Reply:Drugs sold there
Reply:A "FAD" fades.......it's not a fad. Mine's are there too. It's a way of preserving memories. . . I can tell you didn't have much to remember...
Reply:That is a rite of passage for guys who got through boot camp. And yes, I do believe it is a nationwide thing. I see it here in Florida all the time. My ex was in the Marine Corps, and that is what he told me. But he also lied a lot, so I guess he could have been lying. He also told the girl at the drive-thru in a pizzeria that he was Tom Petty's son, and he really had her going. He even told her the car he was driving was a gift from his "dad." You know, these other people are probably right. It probably is drug related!!!!
Reply:I believe it means "drugs sold here"... or thats what my granpa told me... he was an undercover narcotics cop fo 15 years.
Reply:My husband once told me thats a "gang" sign
Reply:Supposedly it means there's a drug dealer in the area. I live in Northern Calif too. It's the same all over this area.
Reply:that means its a drug dealers house
Reply:it's everywhere. Egad those shoes are expensive- is it a prank to get back at someone!?
Reply:i heard that when u see a shoe on the powerlines it means that someone has died
Reply:drugs are sold there
Reply:When soembody dies, they take their shoes and throw them over the powerlines. Or somebody just got their shoes taken and somebody threw them over the powerlines. Either one OR somebody sells drugs in the area...either one!
Reply:drugs...drugs, drugs...................I've tried throwing my high heels up there..they don't stay......
Reply:theres been a pair hangin up the street for the past 5 years. I would think the laces would at least rot through. (seattle)
Reply:Where I'm from, it shows that drugs are sold there.
Reply:no,sounds cool.
