Laundry: Can tennis shoes be thrown in the washer?

Yes, they can. I dont care what anyone says, DO NOT put them in the dryer! The warmth or even cool air will shrink them, and make it very hard to get your feet into them. Let them air-dry. You can set them somewhere fairly warm, or set them outside to dry. It should only take about 8 to 10 hours to dry. Even if they are still damp, put them on and walk around in them. That will relax the material, and make them easy to wear.

Laundry: Can tennis shoes be thrown in the washer?
I do
Reply:I put mine in there all the time and Clorox them
Reply:As long as thier not leather! I cant dry mine in the dryer cause they keep "kicking" the door open and stopping the dryer.. Soooo.. I stuff newspaper in the shoes and let em air dry. the newspaper helps absorb some of the moisture and holds the shape of the shoe.
Reply:Sure, how else would you wash them.

Back in high school we used to use white shoe polish on them so we could look good going to dances.

But these days when tennis shoes are used for running, walking, sports, etc. you need to make them smell nice, so throw them in the washer.
Reply:We've been doing it for a long time and it works fine. Shoes start wearing down more, but they do get clean.
Reply:Sure, it usually works well, esp. if they are canvas. But if you use the dryer, just put them on air dry or fluff
Reply:yes you can wash them but don't out them in the dryer it will cause the glue to come undone its best if you can sit them in the sun
Reply:Most can, the ones that have a lot of plastic on them i wouldn't but the convventional tennis shoe or sneaker which mostly cotton or similair material should fine i wash mine all the time. Later Becky
Reply:Yes. Especially the canvas ones.
Reply:yes. be sure that you stuff with a rag or something because if you don't they will have shrunk at the toe. that is if they are canvas.
Reply:I'VE DONE IT FOR YEARS. THE DRYER BEATS THEM UP TOO MUCH SO I PUT THEM IN THE SUN OR IN A WARM PLACE TO DRY THEM OUT. IN FRONT OF A HEATER WORKS IF YOU DON'T GET THEM TOO CLOSE.
