What are the best tennis shoes for comfort, support, and shock protection?

I work retail so I am on my feet at least 8hrs a day and I also work out. I have tried several different types but my feet are in so much pain!!!!! I know there are a lot of new products out there but I don't want to buy something just because it is the "in thing" at the moment. But if it is a really great product, then I will pay good money. So any opinions or personal prefrences would be great:)

I know running shoes, so I'll speak to that. Most good running stores have guys and gals that know shock absorption and fit pretty well. I go to Dick Pond's. I have no idea where you live, of course.

Brooks Beast comes highly recommend from the big guys I know, my 6'3" 240# son included. No idea if they have women's sizes in that model. They probably wouldn't call a woman's shoe "Beast", but there is likely an equivalent.

Most brands have a 'high impact' model or two.
